Schaumburg, Ill., January 18, 2023—The CNS Foundation is pleased to announce the opening of three International Observerships. The awardee(s) will each receive $20,000 to be used for educational, travel, and living purposes throughout the three-to-six-month onsite experiences in 2023. Each recipient will also attend the 2023 CNS Annual Meeting in Washington D.C., September 9-13, 2023.
“These awards are cornerstones of the CNS Foundation’s work to create strong international medical collaborations to lead improvements in patient care worldwide,” said CNS Foundation Chair, Martina Stippler, MD. “On behalf of the CNS Foundation Board, thank you Medtronic, Stryker, and the generous individual donors who make these extraordinary learning opportunities possible.”
The three observership opportunities are:
- Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, mentored by Isabelle Germano. This observership will have a tumor subspecialty focus.
- Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Global Medical Institute, mentored by Brian Nahed. This observership will have a focus on global neurosurgery and tumor subspecialty.
- Stanford University, mentored by Juan Carlos Fernandez-Miranda. This observership will have a focus on skull base surgery.
In 2022, the CNS Foundation hosted two international observerships. Dr. Martin Merenzon observed for three months with Ricardo Komotar, MD, and team, at the University of Miami. Crystal Calderon, MD, of Trinidad Tobago, observed for six months at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Global Studies, with Brian Nahed, MD, MSc, and team.
