The Congress of Neurological Surgeons is the leader in education and innovation, dedicated to advancing neurosurgery.

The CNS provides members with the educational and career development opportunities they need to become leaders and innovators in the field. Our volunteers and staff serve more than 11,200 members around the world. Working with us gives you firsthand opportunities to support our mission!

CNS offers a collaborative team environment, generous holiday/time off policy, comprehensive benefits (health, vision, dental, short-term disability, long-term disability and life), employee assistance program, flexible spending account (FSA) and 401(k). In addition, CNS offers an employee referral bonus, casual dress code, flextime, and telecommuting options.

Our career benefits include the following:

Medical Insurance

Choose between two BlueCross BlueShield preferred provider options.

Dental Insurance

We offer a preferred provider option dental plan. The CNS pays 100% of the premium for employee-only coverage.

Vision Coverage

Coverage for eye exams, lenses, frames, and contacts. The CNS pays 100% of the premium for employee-only coverage.

Group Insurance Programs

We offer group life and accidental death and dismemberment, as well as group short-term and long-term disability insurance at no cost to the employee.

Voluntary Identity Theft

Employees have the option to purchase voluntary coverage for identity theft protection. Purchasing voluntary coverage through an employer group is often less expensive than buying coverage individually. Additionally, the premiums are conveniently paid through payroll deduction.

Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

A flexible spending account (FSA) allows employees to set aside money from their paycheck (on a pretax basis) to use for eligible out-of-pocket expenses for health care and dependent care.

Annual Performance Evaluation

Performance evaluations are performed on an annual basis. Salary adjustments are based on employee performance and other business factors.

401(k) Plan

CNS offers both traditional and Roth 401(k) retirement plans. Employees who participate in the 401(k) plan are eligible for a safe harbor match, up to 6% of compensation.

Education Assistance

The CNS supports employees who wish to further their education. We offer an education assistance, 50% tuition reimbursement, up to $5,250, for approved degree programs and/or individual college-level courses.

An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides support and guidance for matters that range from personal issues employees face to providing information on everyday topics that include:

Paid Time Off

PTO provides full-time regular and part-time regular employees with paid time away from work that can be used for vacation, personal time, or illness. Employees accrue:

10 days first year, prorated based on hire date

22 days from years two to five

27 days from years six to ten

32 days eleven or more years

Voluntary Critical Illness and Accident Insurance

We offer employees the option to purchase voluntary critical illness and accident insurance. Critical Illness insurance provides coverage for expenses like deductibles, treatments, and living costs. Accident insurance provides a cash payment to help cover out-of-pocket expenses for an unexpected, qualifying accident.

Holidays

We provide paid time off to full-time employees for 12 scheduled holidays per year plus one paid floating holiday.
