    Duke Samson Award The Duke Samson Award (Section on Cerebrovascular Surgery) is given to the best clinical paper by a resident or fellow addressing a topic of cerebrovascular surgery. The winner will receive a $500 award. Resident or Award Fellow 
    Galbraith Award The Galbraith Award (Section on Cerebrovascular Surgery) award is given to the best resident paper addressing a topic of cerebrovascular surgery. The winner will receive a $500 award. Attending or Resident
    Julius Goodman Resident Award (Socioeconomic)

    The Julius Goodman Resident Award (Socioeconomic) award is given to a neurosurgical resident based on originality, merit, innovation, and scientific process. The resident must have made a significant contribution to the abstract. The abstract is chosen by two to four members of the Communications and Education Committee (CEC) of the CSNS appointed by the Chair of the CEC. This annual award is presented at the CNS Annual Meeting, and the selected winner will receive a $500 award.

    If it is decided that there is no abstract that deserves the award that year, the ad hoc committee may choose not to present the award that year.

    Samuel Hassenbusch Young Neurosurgeon Award (Socioeconomic)

    The Samuel Hassenbusch Young Neurosurgeon Award (Socioeconomic) award is given to a young neurosurgeon based on originality, merit, innovation, and scientific process. The young neurosurgeon must have made a significant contribution to the abstract. The abstract is chosen by two to four members of the Communications and Education Committee (CEC) of the CSNS appointed by the Chair of the CEC. This annual award is presented at the CNS Annual Meeting, and the selected winner will receive a $500 award.

    If it is decided that there is no abstract that deserves the award that year, the ad hoc committee may choose not to present the award that year.

    Sherry Apple Resident Travel Scholarship The Sherry Apple Resident Travel Scholarship is granted yearly to an outstanding resident abstract accepted at the CNS Annual Meeting. A stipend of up to $1,000 is awarded to cover travel expenses. Neurosurgical Resident
    NATUS Resident/Fellow Award for Neurocritical Care Awarded to the best abstract submitted by a resident or fellow related to traumatic brain injury and neurocritical care research, this award includes a $1,000 honorarium and plaque. The recipient presents the abstract at the CNS Annual Scientific Meeting. Current Neurosurgical Resident or Fellow
    NATUS Resident/Fellow Award for Traumatic Brain Injury Awarded to the best abstract submitted by a resident or fellow related to traumatic brain injury and neurocritical care research, this award includes a $1,000 honorarium and plaque. The recipient presents the abstract at the CNS Annual Scientific Meeting. Current Neurosurgical Resident or Fellow
    Ronald R. Tasker Young Investigator Award The Ronald R. Tasker Young Investigator Award is given to the highest-ranked abstract submitted for the CNS Annual Meeting concerning pain research. The selected winner will receive a $1,000 award.  Resident, fellow, or neurosurgeon who is no more than two years out from completion of training
    Section on Pediatric Neurosurgery Best Basic Science Award The Section on Pediatric Neurosurgery Best Basic Science Abstract Award is given to the best basic science abstract on the topic of Pediatric Neurosurgery, submitted by a training physician. The awardee is chosen based on originality, merit, innovation, and scientific process. Abstracts are reviewed by the Pediatric Section. The selected winner will receive a $500 award and present the abstract at the CNS Annual Meeting. Medical Student, resident, fellow, or young faculty (within 5 years from completion of training)
    Section on Pediatric Neurosurgery Best Clinical Research Abstract Award The Section on Pediatric Neurosurgery Best Clinical Research Abstract Award is awarded to the best clinical abstract on the topic of Pediatric Neurosurgery, submitted by a training physician.     CNS Resident Award The CNS Resident Award is presented to the outstanding abstract submitted by a resident for presentation at the CNS Annual Meeting. A 1,500-word manuscript must accompany the 300-word abstract, which should be sent to abstracts@cns.org. Your Department Chairman must certify that the resident author had a significant role in the project. Please ask your Chairman to email a letter to the CNS at abstracts@cns.org with the subject line "CNS Resident Award Letter from Chairman." Resident
    Best Peripheral Nerve Abstract Open to all abstracts submitted in the Peripheral Nerve category. $500 will be awarded to the top abstract in this category as selected by the review committee. All abstracts submitted in the Peripheral Nervecategory
    Best Data Science Award The Best Data Science Award is presented to the abstract that must utilize advanced statistical methodology, including big data analytics, to evaluate structured or unstructured data sets. Open to all who submit their abstract for the Best Data Science Award and meet the criteria of the award description.
    Disparities Award To recognize outstanding abstract submissions that demonstrate exceptional research in understanding and addressing health disparities related to neurotrauma, presented at the annual CNS meeting. This award aims to promote awareness, innovation, and collaboration in the field of Neurotrauma research with a focus on equity and inclusivity. $1,000 awarded on behalf of the CNS Foundation Neurotrauma fund. No eligibility requirements. All submissions eligible. 
    Think First Award To recognize an outstanding abstract that emphasizes injury prevention and is aligned with the vision of the ThinkFirst Foundation - to create a safer and healthier world through education and prevention. $1,000 awarded by ThinkFirst. No eligibility requirements. All submissions eligible. $1000 directly from ThinkFirst delivered by JSNTCC ThinkFirst liaison.
    Best Abstract in Medical Education and Training Top-ranked abstract describing an innovative scientific study of issues pertaining to medical education or neurosurgical training. $500 will be awarded to the top abstract in this category as selected by the review committee. All abstracts submitted in the Medical Education & Training category
    Raymond Sawaya Neuro-Oncology Trainee Award (formerly called AANS/CNS Joint Section Tumor Neuro-oncology Trainee Award) The Joint Section Tumors Neuro-Oncology Trainee Award is given to a high- ranking brain tumor clinical or basic science abstract submitted by a resident or medical student. The award is presented at the CNS and AANS Annual Meetings, and the senior author of the paper should be a member of the Joint Section on Tumors. The selected winner will receive a $1,000 award.     American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) Young Investigator Award Sponsored by the American Brain Tumor Association, the Young Investigator Award is given at the AANS and the CNS meetings to a junior faculty member involved in neuro-oncology research who has demonstrated outstanding potential for future basic science research. The applicant must have been out of training for less than 6 years. The selected winner will receive a $1,000 award. All abstracts submitted in the Tumor category
    BrainLab Neurosurgery Award The BrainLab Neurosurgery Award is given at the Annual Meetings of the AANS and CNS. This award is given to a neurosurgeon practicing in an international setting, or in a non-academic setting in the United States, with a high-scoring abstract related to central nervous system tumors. The selected winner will receive a $1,000 award. All abstracts submitted in the Tumor category
    Columbia Softball Skull Base Surgery Award Skull Base Surgery Award The Columbia Softball Skull Base Award is given to a high-ranking abstract related to skull base surgery by a resident or medical student. The award is presented at the CNS and AANS annual meetings, and the senior author of the paper must be a member of the AANS/CNS Section on Tumors. The selected winner will receive a $1,000 award.     James Rutka Pediatric Tumors Award Given to a high-scoring pediatric tumor abstract submitted by a resident or faculty member who is a member of the section on tumors will be given at each AANS/CNS, with the recipient receiving an honorarium in the amount of $1000.     Journal of Neuro-Oncology Award $1000 award given to a high-ranking abstract related to either clinical or basic science neuro-oncology research.  All abstracts submitted in the Tumor category
    Lunsford and Leksell Radiosurgery Award The Lunsford & Leksell Radiosurgery Award is given to a high-scoring stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) abstract. The award is presented at the CNS and AANS annual meetings. The award comes with an honorarium of $1,000. All abstracts submitted in the Tumor category
    Mizuho Minimally Invasive Brain Tumor Surgery Award The Mizuho Minimally Invasive Brain Tumor Surgery Award is given to a high-scoring abstract focused on minimally invasive techniques for brain tumor surgery by a resident or neurosurgeon. The selected winner will receive a $1,000 award. All abstracts submitted in the Tumor category
    Rosenblum - Mahaley Clinical Research Award The Rosenblum - Mahaley Clinical Research Award is given for the best clinical paper at both the AANS and CNS meetings to a neurosurgery attending, resident, or fellow. Special recognition is given to innovative approaches and those that lead to improved patient outcomes and quality of life. About twenty-five years ago, just after founding the Section, Dr. Mark Rosenblum established the Mahaley Clinical Award in honor of his friend and colleague, Steve Mahaley, who was terminally ill at the time of the award's inception. While this award was not independently funded, it has been a hallmark of the Section. In 2019, Dr. Mark Rosenblum and his wife Pam pledged funds to continue this award in perpetuity. The Award was re-named the Rosenblum-Mahaley Clinical Research Award. The selected winner will receive a $1,000 award. All abstracts submitted in the Tumor category
    Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation (SBTF) Award  Given to a high-scoring translational abstract on adult or pediatric brain tumors by a medical student, resident, fellow, or attending physician. Two $1000 awards will be granted each year and will be presented at the AANS and CNS annual meetings.  Medical student, resident, fellow, or attending physician
    Zeiss Brain Tumor Award  Given to a high-scoring abstract on intraoperative imaging (e.g., confocal imaging or fluorescence-guided surgery) or intraoperative radiation therapy of brain tumors utilizing Zeiss technology. The award will be presented at the CNS and AANS annual meetings and will be associated with a $1,000 honorarium. All abstracts submitted in the Tumor category
    StacheStrong Award StacheStrong Award is given to a high-scoring translational abstract on adult glioblastoma (GBM) by a medical student, resident, fellow, or attending physician.     Medtronic Award This award is given to a high-scoring abstract on CNS tumors by a medical student, resident, or neurosurgeon. The award will be presented at the CNS and AANS annual meetings and will be associated with a $1,000 honorarium. Open to medical students, residents, and practicing neurosurgeons
