Schaumburg, IL, May 17, 2021 – The Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) and NEUROSURGERY® Publications is pleased to announce the selection of Matthew J. McPheeters as the 2021–2022 NEUROSURGERY® Publications Resident Fellow.
Dr. McPheeters was selected as the NEUROSURGERY® Publications Resident Fellow after a thorough review of all applications received by the Selection Committee. The Publications Resident Fellow will participate in the editorial process, creative projects, and new initiatives, and will act as an ex officio liaison between the NEUROSURGERY® Publications editorial office and neurosurgery residents and fellows.
Matthew J. McPheeters, MD, MBA, is a neurosurgery resident at the University at Buffalo. Dr. McPheeters grew up in Minneapolis, MN, and completed his undergraduate education at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where he graduated magna cum laude. He received his Medical Doctorate and Master of Business Administration at the University of Minnesota, where he served as the president of the medical student council and worked as a health and medicine content creator at Khan Academy. Dr. McPheeters also serves as an officer in the US Army Reserves.
Dr. McPheeters’s clinical and research interests include open and endovascular neurosurgery, as well as neurotrauma and neurocritical care medicine. In addition to his clinical interests, Dr. McPheeters focuses on improving medical education through digital media and promoting quality scholarly publications.
