Offer exclusive to current and new CNS members; premier neurosurgical event scheduled for October 16–20 in Austin, Texas
Schaumburg, Illinois, February 5, 2021 — As a show of solidarity and appreciation, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) today announced that it is waiving the registration fee for all members who wish to attend the 2021 CNS Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas.
The CNS Annual Meeting is the organization’s premier event, providing professionals in neurosurgery and other advanced-practice fields with leading-edge information, educational opportunities, and inspiration. By removing the registration fee, CNS is reducing the cost of attendance by approximately $900 per member.
Both current and new members—those who join CNS prior to signing up for the Annual Meeting—will be eligible for free registration.
“This is all about expressing gratitude to our membership. The past year has been filled with challenges for those in our field—the price of registration to our Annual Meeting shouldn’t be one of them,” said Dr. Brian Hoh, President of CNS. “Offering free registration is our way of saying thanks, giving back, and acknowledging the shared sacrifices of our colleagues around the world.”
The 2021 Annual Meeting—themed “Vision for the Future”—will be held October 16–20. Attendees will learn from world-renowned speakers on advancements in neurosurgical care, from recent accomplishments to the innovations that will shape surgical specialties in the next 25 years.
“We are excited to host our first in-person event of 2021,” Hoh said. “The lineup is impressive, the sessions are incredible, and safety precautions will be up to our high standards throughout. I have no doubt that anyone who joins us in Austin will return to their practice with the tools to be an even greater professional and member of their community.”
Special invited lecturers are Malcolm Gladwell, author of "The Tipping Point," "Blink," "Outliers," "David and Goliath," and "What the Dog Saw;" Dr. Siddhartha Mukherjee, Pulitzer Prize–winning author of "The Emperor of all Maladies" and "The Gene;" and Dr. Henry Marsh, one of the U.K.’s preeminent neurosurgeons and author of "Do No Harm: Life, Death, and Brain Surgery" and "Admissions: A Life in Brain Surgery."
Additionally, world chess champion Garry Kasparov; Alex Honnold, the American rock climber featured in the Academy Award–winning documentary “Free Solo;” and others to be announced will give attendees unique perspectives and inspire ways in which they can push their surgical practices and themselves forward.
Opportunities to meet each of the speakers will be available at book signings and meet-and-greets.
Other highlights include cutting-edge studies and technology, 100-plus educational opportunities, substantial continuing medical education (CME) sessions, and opportunities to explore Austin, the music capital of the world.
